Humminbird Fishfinders
Hummingbird fish finders are your eyes into the water. To make sure that you buy the fish finder that’s right for you, read about the different Humminbird fish finders that are available, and click on the link to the fishfinder that best suits your needs for additional feature and pricing information.
Imagine not having to spend hours cruising from site to site looking for the right spot, or slowly drifting waiting for a nibble, all the time not knowing if you’re in the same place as the fish. Instead, set a course to a favorite spot and your Hummingbird fish finder will tell you when to stop. The depth finder will show you exactly how far down they are so you know how much line to let out. Not only that, but the combination units, with chartplotter and GPS capability, will tell you exactly where you (and the fish) are, so you’ll know where to head out and start looking next time.
How is Humminbird able to this? Their advanced sonar technology looks into the ocean using a variety of different imaging techniques, all designed to give you the clearest picture of what is under your boat.
The simplest type of sonar utilized is the single beam. This provides a focused, narrow beam which provides a highly detailed view of the ocean, lake or river bottom, and large objects (such as dense schools of fish) which congregate down there. In order to provide this fine detail, the coverage of the single beam sonar is only 1/3 of your depth. This type of sonar is available on the 100 and 500 Series, the
PiranhaMax Series and the Matrix Series of fish finders.
Humminbird’s DualBeam Plus sonar technology combines a wide angle and narrow beam sonar and also allows you to combine them for enhanced detail. This is the perfect fish finder system when you’re out for the first time or looking for a new location. As you cruise towards your selected area, set your sonar to the wide beam, for maximum bottom coverage (equal to your depth). This will allow you to quickly locate schools of bait fish, or larger individual fish. When you find a promising lead, switch to the narrow beam (or combine both into a single display) for the most accurate picture of what you’re about to catch. The DualBeam Plus is available on the Matrix, 300, 500, 700, 900, and 1100 Series Fish Finders.
Do you want an even more complete picture of what’s going on under your boat? The QuadraBeam Plus provides all the benefits of the DualBeam sonar, and adds in two 35 degree fan shaped beams to expand coverage from side to side. These additional beams allow you to see an area equal to twice your depth. So while you may find the perfect spot, as we all know, fish don’t stay in one place for very long so the side sonar lets you know which side they’re going to for better casting placement. Also, as you drift, you’ll be better able to adjust your location to keep yourself as close to the fish as possible. The wide searching QuadraBeam Plus is available on the 575 and 737 model Fish Finders.
Finding fish is one thing, but being able to get your bait close enough to catch them still causing problems? Not anymore. With Humminbird’s 3D Plus sonar system you not only get the full bottom coverage equal to your depth, but a special array of six beams combine to give you a detailed 3-dimensional view of the bottom. If the fish you’re after likes to keep close to drop offs searching for prey, of near larger structures for protection, you’ll be able to see it all. The 3D Plus provides both the standard 2D view and the enhanced 3D view side-by-side for the most complete and accurate view of where your fish are. Once you start fishing with the 3D Plus, you’ll think of every fish you find as yours; it’s just a matter of how much time you have, and how many fish you can store. Avaliable on the 737, 575 and 947c Fish Finders.
Looking for the ultimate fishing experience? Then look no further than the Humminbird Side Imaging Sonar. With a full 180 Degree view form side to side and up to 480 ft of bottom imaging, you now have the ability to scan huge areas in minutes. A highly enhanced version of the DualBeam this high frequency sonar is able to cut through the cloudiest waters and provide crystal clear images of everything that’s below the surface. Detailed images are generated not only of fish, but also any structures whether they be natural drop-offs, coral reefs, or even sunken ships (for those who also like to do some diving). Combined with the 2D down looking sonar, you can see more, faster and clearer than ever before. This top of the line sonar is available in select 1100 Series, 900 Series and 700 Series Fish Finders.
Being a relatively new (early 1990’s) technology to reach the market, fish finders have revolutionized the both the recreational and sport fishing industries, making it possible for virtually anyone with a boat, rod and reel to catch fish. So whether you’re a first time boat owner looking to maximize your investment or a seasoned angler looking for the latest technology to enhance the effectiveness of your favorite fishing lure, a Humminbird fish finder is just what you need.
