The PiranhaMAX Series of fishfinders is Humminbird’s most basic entry level fishfinder. One touch is all it takes for you to gain access to features such as fish ID, fish alarms, depth alarms, zoom and more.

The PiranhaMAX 150 is the simplest, and most affordable fish finder in the PiranhaMAX series. The 150 features a 4″ diagonal, 4 level gray scale display and 800 watts of peak-to-peak (PTP) single beam sonar power. The single beam sonar is focused on the bottom, generating the best images of bottom structures and fish close to the bottom. Coverage of the PiranhaMAX 150 single beam sonar is equal to 1/3 of your depth.

The PiranhaMAX 160has all the features of the 150, but is equipped with Humminbird’s dual beam sonar.  The dual beam sonar has an 800 watts of PTP power, capable of detecting objects down to a depth of 600 ft. The dual beam sonar combines the bottom detail of narrow beam with the greater coverage of a wide angle sonar beam allowing you to see both bait fish and individual fish hidden in bottom clutter. Coverage of the PiranhaMAX 160 is equal to your depth.

The PiranhaMAX 170 is a step up from the 160 in both power and display. The dual sonar has double the power of the 160, with 1600 watts of PTP power for improved clarity and resolution to a depth of 800 feet. The enhanced image features a high resolution 8 level gray scale display.

The next step in affordable fishfinders is the PiranhaMAX 180. Featuring the same 8 level gray scale display as the 170, the 180 model now employs Humminbird’s TriBeam sonar for a full 90 degrees of underwater coverage. The TriBeam sonar combines a 20 degree narrow beam and two fan shaped 35 degree sonar beams allowing you to scan to both sides below your boat. The unique arrangement of the TriBeam sonar allows the PiranhaMAX 180 to scan an area equal to twice your depth.  

For those who like to see in color, the PiranhaMAX 190c takes the single beam 150 fishfinder and upgrades it with a 3.5 inch diagonal, 256 color display.

The final entry in the user friendly PiranhaMAX series is the PiranhaMAX 230 portable. This fully portable fishfinder system (complete with hardshell carrying case) features a 4 inch diagonal 4 level gray scale display with an 800w (PTP) dual beam sonar (in a protable transducer) and a SmartCast wireless remote sonar sensor. The portable transducer easily attaches to the outside of any craft with a suction cup. The wireless sensor unit has a range of 100 ft allowing you to set up the display of the PiranhaMAX 230 anywhere on your boat, not necessarily right next to the transducer. This is a truly portable fish finder.
